Choosing The Right E-Bike
Lightweight vs. Full-Power E-Bikes
Lightweight e-bikes are sleek, subtle, and feel more like traditional bikes—ideal for riders who want a natural ride with a gentle boost. Full-power e-bikes offer stronger motor support and larger batteries, making them perfect for steeper hills, longer rides, or carrying heavier loads.
Hub-Drive vs. Mid-Drive Motors
Hub-drive motors are mounted in the rear wheel and deliver smooth, straightforward power. Their lighter, more straightforward design makes them a great choice for everyday riding and recreational use.
Mid-drive motors, located at the bike’s bottom bracket, provide a more balanced and natural pedaling feel. They offer greater efficiency and torque—especially useful for climbing hills, riding trails, or tackling more challenging routes.
E-Bike Batteries
Battery size impacts how far you can ride—larger batteries offer more range, typically 40–110+ km depending on terrain and assist level. Some models feature removable batteries for easy charging, while others have fully integrated designs for a sleek look.
Range extenders are also available on select bikes, giving you extra mileage for longer adventures.
Keep in mind: larger batteries add weight, so it’s important to balance your need for range with how light and agile you want your bike to feel.
Certification
All bikes we sell come with the highest safety certification, UL 2849. This standard rigorously tests the entire electrical system—including the battery, motor, and charger—for fire, electrical, and mechanical safety. Choosing a UL 2849-certified e-bike means you’re riding a bike that has passed independent, comprehensive safety evaluations, giving you extra confidence and peace of mind.
Key Components to Know
The motor provides the power assist. Most motors are in the rear hub or mid-drive (crank area). Bikes we sell come with the following motor systems:
- TQ
- Bosch
- Specialized Turbo
- Shimano
- Hyena
The battery capacity determines the range you will get. Higher capacity battery (measured in watt-hours or Wh) = longer rides.
This is your control panel where you can switch assist levels, monitor speed, range, and battery life.
- Pedal Assist: Motor helps only when you pedal (most common).
- Throttle: Some bikes let you use a thumb or twist throttle to ride without pedaling (check local laws).
