Bike Assembly Q&A

If you’re comfortable with basic tools, expect the final assembly to take about 10–40 minutes. The typical steps include:

What You’ll Need to Do:

  • Install the Handlebars: Attach the handlebar by securing the stem faceplate. Follow the recommended torque settings to avoid overtightening.

  • Attach the Front Wheel: Depending on the bike, this will be done using either a quick‑release skewer or a thru‑axle.

  • Insert the Seatpost: Slide the seatpost into the frame and tighten the clamp at your preferred height. Use grease for aluminum posts in aluminum frames, or carbon paste for carbon posts in carbon or aluminum frames. Always torque to spec.

  • Install the Pedals: Important note - the left pedal is reverse‑threaded (left‑hand thread). Turning it the wrong way can damage the crank arm.

  • Inflate the Tires: Bikes ship with low tire pressure for safety, so you’ll need to pump them up to the recommended PSI.

  • Charge batteries: applicable to e-bike batteries and electronic shifting systems.
  • Metric Hex Keys: Most adjustments use 4mm, 5mm, or 6mm sizes.

  • Torque Wrench (recommended): Ensures bolts are tightened to the manufacturer’s specifications.

  • Pedal Wrench: A dedicated pedal wrench or a thin 15mm open‑ended wrench; some pedals use a 6mm or 8mm hex instead.

  • Grease or Carbon Paste: Apply to seatpost and pedal threads to prevent seizing and ensure proper installation.

  • Floor Pump: Preferably one with a built‑in pressure gauge for accurate inflation.

*Tip*: Many manufacturers require professional assembly to maintain warranty coverage. If you’re unsure about any step, having a local bike shop perform a “Safety Check” or full build is a worthwhile investment for both safety and peace of mind.

Riding a damaged bike may pose safety risks and can affect your warranty.

Not quite. While we aim to keep our builds as consistent as possible, some high-performance models require more detailed technical setup than our standard builds. To prevent damage during transit, these bikes may ship with a few additional components needing installation upon arrival.

That said, our team ensures every bike leaves our shop far more assembled than when it arrived from the manufacturer. We take every possible step to minimize the amount of work required on your end.

Models that may require additional assembly include:

  • Road and gravel bikes with integrated bar and stem systems
  • Triathlon and time trial (TT) bikes due to complex cabling and aero extensions
  • Custom builds involving precise fit specifications

Our Commitment

If your specific bike requires assembly beyond our standard build level, we’ll always notify you before shipping so you can prepare accordingly.
