Meet your 2023 S.W.E.E.T Ambassadors
Mona Noor
Hi everyone! I’m Mona, a first-generation immigrant who moved to Canada as a teen after growing up in Saudi Arabia. I now live, work, and play on the unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg People and believe deeply in Indigenous stewardship of the land.
After limited access to sport growing up, I found community and confidence through Muay Thai, eventually competing in the U.S. and Thailand. Later, I discovered Olympic lifting, bouldering, and biking—especially trail and mountain biking, which challenge me both physically and mentally. Last year I completed my first metric century, and this year I’m working toward several more, plus improving my MTB skills.
I may be quiet in person, but I’m proud to be a SWEET ambassador. As a queer immigrant woman of colour who didn’t grow up active, I hope to be a visible reminder that everyone belongs in outdoor spaces, regardless of background or pace.
Looking forward to seeing some of you on the trails this year!
Michèle Dextras
I’m a retired bilingual woman and avid touring cyclist. With my partner, I’ve completed over 20 cycling tours—mostly in France, but also in Québec, the U.S., and Ireland. Our overseas trips are typically 4–5 weeks long, covering around 1,200 km. I also ride solo, with my partner, and weekly with the Kanata Nepean Bicycle Club (KNBC).
I’m a proud member of the Grassroot Grannies, a group that raises funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support African grandmothers caring for children orphaned by AIDS. Our annual three-day ride in September is one of our biggest fundraisers—we’ve raised over one million dollars in the past 15 years.
Beyond cycling, I enjoy hiking and completed the 1,511 km Camino de Santiago through France and Spain—an unforgettable experience. Cycling is truly my happy place and how I stay active. In the winter, I keep moving with a wind trainer and regular gym workouts.
Megan Nettleton
Hi! I’m Megan—a full-time security manager, mom of two, and passionate mountain biker. I wasn’t always active, but I found mountain biking while living in Australia during a demanding work chapter. At first, it brought tears and self-doubt, but it quickly became a source of freedom, confidence, and clarity. It helped me shift my priorities: movement and time outside became essential.
After two children and two experiences with postpartum anxiety and depression, I’ve only grown more certain of how vital biking and the outdoors are to my well-being. Now, at 37, I’ve signed up for the Québec Singletrack Experience—a five-day XC mountain bike race—to challenge myself and show my kids (and other caregivers) what’s possible.
Life’s demands and self-doubt often hold us back. But I believe in starting anyway, embracing the highs and lows, and beginning again when needed. As a SWEET Ambassador, I want to lead by example: if I can do this, you can too.
Meredith Luce
I’ve never considered myself an athlete. As a kid, I struggled through soccer and found peace in horseback riding—solitary, outdoors, and grounding. After several head injuries, my doctor warned me off helmet sports. Yoga, dance, and weight training helped me stay active, but I missed something: solitude in nature.
When my daughter was born, that quiet disappeared. We began walking daily—then hiking, then camping. I craved deeper solitude, so I bought backpacking gear and took my first solo trip to Frontenac Park. It was tough, but empowering. I felt capable again.
Since then, I’ve embraced solo hiking and overnight trips, while sharing my love of the outdoors with my daughter—who now hikes 10 km days! In 2023, I tackled the Frontenac Challenge and plan to keep pushing my limits.
As a SWEET Ambassador, I’m excited to encourage others—especially women—to step out of their comfort zones and reconnect with nature. The forest offers strength, clarity, and peace.
Meet Our Past S.W.E.E.T Ambassadors
Over the years, our SWEET ambassadors have inspired women of all ages and abilities to get active, try new things, and build community through sport. From first-time 5Ks to epic bike tours and trail adventures, these women have shared their stories, celebrated personal milestones, and helped make SWEET what it is today. We’re proud to highlight some of the incredible ambassadors who’ve been part of this journey.
